Rugby League is the most exciting, hard-hitting and demanding sport of all - a truly fast, physical and hugely enjoyable sport to watch!

It encourages all the most exciting aspects of rugby - running with the ball, clever passing moves and big tackles. This is a style of rugby that Greenwich Admirals pride themselves on playing each and every week.

So why not come along to watch? You get to see the great game played LIVE every weekend from April to September and it's free!

First XIII games have either a London League or Youth League game before and drinks and snacks are available from the club house making this a wonderful family day out. Come and discover why we are so proud of our club and our game and why we boast of being "One of London's top amateur rugby league clubs".

We warmly invite you to JOIN US absolutely free for our next home

If you aren't familiar with Rugby League - the rules are roughly as follows:

Basics:

Duration: 80 Minutes total (2 x 40 Minute Halves)
Players: 13 Players playing, plus 4 reserves with
(amateur) unlimited interchanges.

Points:

Try: 4 Points
Conversion: 2 Points
Penalty Goal: 2 Points
Field/Drop Goal: 1 Point

Tackles:

Each side has 6 tackles to score or hand the ball to the opposition

Tackles on the neck/head are illegal

The tackled player must be immediately released by the tackler and cannot be touched again until the ball is back in play.

After the player with the ball is tackled, they must lift the ball clear of the ground, face their opponent's goal line and roll it under their foot to the player behind them to the acting half back - "playing the ball".

Once they have done this, their team has one less tackle to play with. So if, for example, a player is tackled on the second tackle, the referee will then shout "third tackle" on the play the ball. The team will have only three more tackles left to get on the scoreboard.

If a player is tackled behind his own try line he must drop-kick the ball out to the opposition.

Fouls:

Passes must always be made backwards

A player may only tackle another player who has the ball

A player may not regather a kick if he was in front of the kicker when the kick was made

All defending players must be 10m behind the ball when the tackled player is "playing the ball".

Kicking:

If a team kicks to touch during open play and the ball bounces before leaving the field of play, then the game restarts with a scrum to the opposition where the ball left the field

If the ball is kicked out of play on the full, the opposition wins a scrum from where the ball was kicked.

If the ball is kicked from within the 40 meter line and bounces out between the opposition 20 meter and try line, the kicking team wins a scrum where the ball left the field.

Play is re-started with a tap kick to the defending team from the 20m line if:

a) an attacking player touches the ball before it goes out of play over the dead-ball line, except from a penalty or from a kick-off

b) a defending player catches a kick from general play from an opponent on the full inside their own in-goal area

A player may not knock the ball forward except with the foot
