Pre season started in February with increased numbers than expected at both youth and adult levels.

The coaching teams put the players through their paces under the guidance of duel head coaches Jason and Damien. Players met the challenges being set with renewed confidence that the forthcoming season was going to something special across the whole club.

For once that confidence was not misplaced. The youth section grew from strength to strength throughout the season, the U14’s finishing second in their league losing only one game and the newly formed U16’s finishing mid table. There were a number of highlights to the youth season that demonstrated their achievements, none more prominent than the scalps of our northern counterparts, returning undefeated from their end of season tour of Cumbria.

The adult team finished third in their league on points difference and were eliminated at the semi final stage of the “Harry Jepson Trophy”– Divisional Play Offs. As with the youths, the adults also had a number of highlights that demonstrate their achievements throughout the season, none more prominent than the win over promoted Bedford Tigers.

The season also saw the club become more involved with the local community, joining forces with three youth centres on a number of projects the highlight being the fun day at Brisit Park that introduced the RFL’s “Skill Zone” to the local community.

The club carried out a major refurbishment of its changing facilities during the winter and we were honoured when the Mayor of Greenwich agreed to commission them.

Overall, a very successful season, lessons were learned and taken on board for 2008.
